IN PURSUIT OF TRIVIA
----------------------
Compiled by Simon Plumbe
--------------------------
Oh no, not another regular article! Yes, unless you say different! This one
is a "Questions & Answers" service for all your trivial queries about TREK.
As well as answering your questions, we'll dish out any other irrelevant
trivia we can dig up! All the questions will be answered by our team of
resident Trekkers - Simon Plumbe, Mark Haggett, Colin Gunn and Tobias
Richter.
QUESTIONS & ANSWERS
---------------------
Obviously, as this is the first issue, you probably think we don't have any
questions? Wrong!! It's only a few, but they were submitted to me for a
similar article in TEMPORAL PHYSICS from Mark Pearson in Walsall, England.
Mark wanted to know what episodes Mark Lenard has appeared in, and as what
characters. Yes, I know most Trekkers should know this, but for those that
don't here goes...
Original Series
---------------
Balance Of Terror - Romulan Commander
Jorney To Babel - Sarek (Spock's Father)
The Animated Series
-------------------
Yesteryear - Voice of Sarek
Films
-----
Star Trek: The Motion Picture - Klingon Captain
Star Trek III: The Search For Spock - Sarek
Star Trek IV: The Voyage Home - Sarek
Star Trek V: The Final Frontier - Voice of Young Sarek
Star Trek VI: The Indiscovered Country - Sarek
The Next Generation
-------------------
Sarek - Sarek (202 years old!)
Also, Mark Lenard was originally cast as Abraham Lincoln in the episode
THE SAVAGE CURTAIN from Season 3 of the original series, but he pulled out
due to conflicting commitments.
Mark also wanted to know what the "CC" stands for that appears in the corner
of the screen during the title sequence on some NEXT GENERATION episodes.
Well, it stands for Closed Caption" and it means that the episode features
subtitles for the deaf. If you look on the episodes that it DOESN'T appear
on, it's still there - it's just been blacked out. Look closely next time you
watch an episode!
OTHER TRIVIA
--------------
As you know, Denise Crosby left THE NEXT GENERATION in the first season
episode Skin Of Evil. However, as with most TV shows, they are rarely shown
in the order they are recorded in and the final epsiode she actually recorded
was Symbiosis.
The final scene she had to film was the closing scene in the cargo bay where
the Onarans and the Brekkians are beamed down to Onara. We see Picard and
Crusher leave the cargo bay and the doors close behind them. However, if you
look VERY carefully, watch Denise Crosby in the background. She is standing
in the background with her arms folded, but as the doors are almost shut she
leans into view and waves at the camera! Supposedly, this was her way of
saying "goodbye" to STAR TREK! Watch the episode and see for yourself!
Anyone else got any questions or a better suggestion for the title?
